Equipment Description:
For Learn & Earn programs, Community Computer Connection can provide completely refurbished desktop PC systems with minimum standards of at least a Pentium III, 17” CRT monitor, 10 GB hard drive, 256 MB of RAM, keyboards, mice, mouse pads, and power cords. For school/non-profit staff and classroom/computer labs, we can provide Pentium 4 computers. We install a licensed copy of Microsoft Windows 2000 Pro (Pentium III computers) or Microsoft XP Pro (Pentium IV computers) along with Open source software (list of software is provided.) Linux systems are available upon request. Occasionally we are able to provide additional equipment such as laptops, printers, scanners, etc. We will do our best to accommodate all requests based on equipment availability. There is a small administrative fee for all equipment.
General Guidelines:
Computers can be applied for to support any 1 or a combination of the 3 following models:
- CTC (Community Technology Centers) – We provide computers for non-profits and schools to establish or upgrade computer labs and classrooms within their facilities.
- Staff Support – We provide computers for the administrative technical needs of non-profits and schools.
- Learn & Earn – We provide computers for non-profits and schools to establish programs where their students or clients earn a computer after completing some training. The purpose of the training is to insure that anyone receiving a computer should be able to do basic things on it like start it up and shut it down, save documents and retrieve documents, use email and Internet, and do basic word processing.
Additional Information:
You may apply and receive computers only one time per calendar year.Supporting Documents Submission: by fax, mail, or electronic mail:
- Non-profit organizations- you must submit a current 501(c)(3) public charity determination letter from the US Department of Treasury (example) and your state sales tax certificate.
- Schools- Accreditation Certificate state or national.
- Donation Agreement: The CEO, President, Executive Director, Principal, or Superintendent must sign and mail in our donation agreement before application can be approved.
- Only authorized people on the donation agreement may sign for receipt of the equipment when they pick it up.
- Applicants Sales Tax Exemption Certificate (example).
Eligibility Guidelines:
Only Colorado-based entities that hold Colorado recognized charitable status and IRS recognized 501(c) (3) code, and Qualifying Schools that are a public or private nonprofit K-12 school or community college that is either institutionally accredited by an accrediting agency nationally recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or approved by the Colorado Department of Education may apply.
The following are NOT considered Qualifying Charities:
- private foundations (as defined in Section 509 of the Code)
- political, labor and fraternal organizations
- hospitals and health care organizations such as healthcare networks and insurers (however, the following health care organizations shall be deemed to be Qualifying Charities: (x) ambulatory healthcare services organizations that are qualified under Section 501(c)(3) of the Code and that are also Federally Qualified Health Centers or FQHC Look-Alikes, and (y) blood banks)
- home healthcare organizations
- religious organizations without a current 501(c)(3) exempt status and secular community mission.
Application Process:
- Read and understand the above stated guidelines.
- If your organization or school qualifies, fill out our online grant application.
- CEO, President, Executive Director, Principal, or Superintendent download and sign a copy of our donation agreement.
- Mail in your signed donation agreement and your current 501(c)(3) public charity determination letter from the US Department of Treasury (example) or current state or national school accreditation certificate.
- We will review your application and notify you of its status via email within one week of receiving your proper documentation.
- Upon completion of your request, one of our staff members will contact you via email to arrange a pick-up date and time.
- You must schedule and pick up your equipment within 1 week of completed notification date. (For large requests, please arrange adequate transportation, volunteers to help load the vehicle, and enough storage space if you will need to store the equipment requested). The entire process from when you receive approval of your application to when your order is complete and ready to be picked up can take between 4-12 weeks. Recipients must be prepared with a check to cover administration fee at the time of pick up.
