About Our Organization
Community
Computer Connection, an official Microsoft Authorized
Refurbisher provides access to technology to the underserved
communities of Colorado since
2001. Over the past six
years Community Computer Connection has refurbished and distributed
over 17,000
computers to more than 130 schools and 470 organizations.
We impact
thousands of households across Colorado, as over 40% of the
computer systems that are
awarded through our program go to youth and families.
Community
Computer Connection receives donations from corporations,
organizations, and individuals of used computer equipment that our team
fully refurbishes
and distributes to qualifying charities and schools for a
small administrative fee.
Our
refurbished computers are complete with licensed Windows operating
systems donated by
Microsoft and additional application software. These computers
are used
to establish or upgrade community technology centers, support
administrative
operations, and for “Learn and Earn” programs through which students
earn computers
by completing technical training.
Education
and training is a vital
part of our program operations. We have established partnerships with
three
local colleges in the Front Range
area which incorporate
work study students to assist us in the refurbishment process. Students
who
participate with our program are able to earn money to towards their
school
expenses as well as gain hands on work experience that contributes to
their
professional skills. College work study students spend anywhere from 8
to 20
hours per week at the warehouse, and refurbish an average of 85
computers each
week.
